Portfolio Fine Art Instructor (Middle to High School)

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Portfolio Fine Art Instructor to inspire and mentor middle school through high school students in developing strong fine art and portfolio preparation skills for art and design schools and college admissions. The ideal candidate has expertise in both traditional and contemporary fine art practices, including drawing, painting, mixed media, 3D sculpting, and installation art, while helping students build competitive portfolios for college acceptance.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Instruct and guide students in small classroom settings of 3–12 students while adapting lessons to meet each student’s artistic skill level, creative goals, safety, and emotional needs.

  • Teach advanced fine art techniques across a variety of mediums including pencil/graphite, pen and markers, colored pencils, oil pastels, watercolors, acrylics, oil painting, mixed media, 3D sculpting, and installation art.

  • Mentor students in developing original portfolio-quality artwork for art school, AP Art, and college admissions.

  • Guide students through concept development, sketchbook practices, artistic research, composition, storytelling, and presentation skills.

  • Support students in creating strong portfolio pieces that demonstrate technical ability, creativity, and personal artistic voice.

  • Provide portfolio reviews, individualized feedback, and college portfolio preparation support.

  • Instruct students in selecting materials and executing projects with consideration of color, texture, balance, form, scale, symbolism, and spatial design.

  • Encourage creativity, critical thinking, experimentation, and artistic confidence in a positive and engaging classroom environment.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe studio environment while teaching students proper care and responsible use of art materials and equipment.

​Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of teaching experience in Fine Arts or Portfolio Preparation.

  • Experience teaching portfolio development for art school or college admissions preferred.

  • Experience supporting students with college acceptance and portfolio submissions highly preferred.

  • Strong background in fine art practices including drawing, painting, mixed media, 3D installation, and fine art sculpting.

  • Submission of a completed portfolio showcasing personal artwork and/or student portfolio outcomes.

  • Holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA), Master of Fine Arts (MFA), or related degree in Fine Arts.

  • Exception: Applicants holding a Bachelor of Arts (BA) with extensive portfolio teaching experience will also be considered.

We are looking for a motivated and people-oriented Recruiter / Talent Acquisition Specialist to help grow our team by identifying, attracting, and hiring exceptional instructors, staff, and creative professionals. Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage the full recruitment process from sourcing and screening candidates to scheduling interviews and onboarding new hires.

Marketing & Social Media Coordinator

We are looking for a creative, detail-oriented, and results-driven Marketing & Social Media Coordinator to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about digital marketing, content creation, branding, and analytics. The ideal candidate combines creativity with strategic thinking and is excited to help grow and strengthen our online presence across multiple platforms.

Film Instructor (Grades 6–12)

We are looking for a passionate Film Instructor to teach middle and high school in film production, storytelling, and portfolio development. This part-time, project-based role includes in-person instruction in Irvine and online sessions. The ideal candidate will be an experienced filmmaker and educator who can guide students through the entire creative process from concept development to final edit while helping them build strong portfolios for art school and program applications.

The Film Instructor will teach core filmmaking fundamentals including storytelling, shot composition, editing, and visual narrative. Students will be supported in developing short film projects from start to finish, with structured feedback and individualized guidance based on their skill level and goals. The role requires the ability to adapt instruction, mentor students through creative challenges, and help them refine and elevate their work to a professional standard.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of teaching experience in film, media, or a related field

  • Background in Film, Media, or a related discipline

  • Strong understanding of storytelling, visual storytelling, and film structure

  • Experience with basic filming and editing tools (Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut preferred)

The Social Media Specialist will be responsible for developing and executing social media campaigns, creating engaging videos, reels, stories, and posts, taking photos and videos, writing copy, maintaining content calendars, and monitoring platform trends to keep content fresh and relevant. This role also includes editing and publishing content, engaging with followers, responding to messages and comments professionally, and analyzing performance metrics to optimize engagement and audience growth.

Fashion Design Instructor (Part-Time)

This role is ideal for someone who loves fashion, enjoys working with children, and is excited to inspire young creatives through hands-on learning, design techniques, and the history of fashion.

 

The Fashion Design Instructor will be responsible for developing and teaching age-appropriate curriculum, guiding students through creative projects, and fostering a positive and engaging classroom environment that supports artistic, social, and academic growth. Instructors will use a variety of teaching methods, materials, and activities that align with THE ARTIST LAB’s educational philosophy while encouraging creativity and self-expression.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement level-appropriate Fashion Design curriculum

As a Sales Associate, you will welcome prospective families, conduct studio tours and consultations, explain our art programs and portfolio development opportunities, follow up with leads, support enrollments, and assist with front desk operations and studio events. You will work closely with instructors to stay informed about student progress and programming while helping families find the right fit for their artistic goals.

Requirements:

  • Must be eligible to work for any employer in the US (no sponsorship or transfers available)

Administrative Assistant

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Administrative Assistant to support daily operations within a creative art school environment. This role works closely with leadership and instructional staff to ensure smooth coordination of teachers, classes, and studio activities while maintaining an efficient and welcoming workplace.

 

The Administrative Assistant will play a key role in teacher coordination and onboarding, including assisting with interviews, preparing onboarding materials, and supporting new instructors as they integrate into the program. Responsibilities also include managing calendars, scheduling classes and appointments, handling internal communications, and supporting general administrative tasks such as data entry, document preparation, and filing. This role may also assist with occasional marketing or community outreach efforts as needed.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in an administrative, office, or coordination role preferred

  • Background in art, design, or creative education is a plus

  • Marketing or social media experience is a bonus

  • Bilingual in Mandarin strongly preferred
