IPSF Summer Camp Recap at The Artist Lab!

The Artist Lab Summer Break Camp

We've wrapped up another amazing week of summer camp! Our students had the opportunity to dive into acrylic painting, game art, and Pokémon design. Check out their creations below.

Acrylic Canvas

Students began the week by immersing themselves in acrylic painting. They worked on scale charts, painted still life scenes, and learned to give form to objects through sphere studies. As the week progressed, they delved into color theory, experimented with mixing complementary colors, and created vivid fruit paintings to demonstrate their understanding. Later, they tackled advanced techniques such as layering paint and examining the intricacies of animal eyes. By week's end, students combined all their newly acquired skills in independent projects, producing final pieces that were uniquely theirs.

Game Art

This week, students delved into the thrilling realm of game design and illustration by crafting their own video game concept art and custom controller designs. They explored various game genres for inspiration and drew a "screenshot" from a game they envisioned, featuring monsters, magical forests, and courageous heroes. Later in the week, students decided whether to create a brand-new controller or redesign an existing one. Using real-world references, they sketched and added custom buttons, lights, and features. By the end, students had not only imagined a game but also constructed an entire experience around it!

Pokémon Camp

This week focused on exploring the realm of Pokémon through art and design! Initially, students created their own Pokémon trading cards, each showcasing a hand-drawn creature complete with a name, special power, and unique attack. Following this, they transformed their concepts into 3D with a papercraft Pokéball project, where they placed a custom Pokémon inside their personalized Pokéballs. Lastly, students sculpted their Pokémon designs using air-dry clay.
