Figure Study I introduces students to the Loomis Drawing Method for quick and efficient portrait construction. Students will focus on facial feature accuracy, study Bargue Plates to improve observation, and practice portraiture in graphite by copying master artists like John Singer Sargent. The course also covers figure construction with emphasis on proportions and includes a 3-week charcoal figure drawing study. Students will apply their skills to live model drawing, using traditional materials like vine and charcoal for quick sketches, enhancing their observational and drawing abilities.
